Stories from Home – Week 2

People standing outside their balconies in self-isolation
‘Isolation’ is the topic for week 2

The Dulcie Stone ‘Stories from Home’ writing project is a collaboration between VALID and Writers Victoria. During the 2020 coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions, participants were invited to share their experiences through writing by submitting their responses to weekly topics. The submission(s) below are from Moe Life Skills participants. Happy reading and be sure to let them know if you enjoyed it!

Theme: ‘Isolation’

Isolation by Georgia Green

Thinking about Isolation
It’s about
What you cannot do
That you used to able to do
Like going to Moe Life Skills
And the Salvation Army
Volunteering at Breakfast Club
Going to Traralgon by bus
Catching up with friends at a Café
Things have changed
There is no Friendship Group
Not really being part of the Moe PAG
Even though we zoom
How you cannot see the people you used to see
My friends Cas and Justin
Cannot see my family
My sister
My Auntie in her nursing home
It has changed
It has changed where you can go
